Why go green?

Although there are still people with doubts about climate change, the vast majority of people and companies know it’s real, and it’s an urgent challenge to tackle! As you will see below, in many cases going green is just common sense, and it will help your business reduce cost, decrease risk, increase productivity, and enable a clear, positive marketing message.

Based on our experience, your decision to go green is influenced by up to 7 areas directly affecting your business:

Stakeholders:

Shareholders increasingly demand accountability, employees are more selective where they work (green is attractive!), the communities you are based in want to know how you affect them.

Competition:

The early adopters in sustainability gain competitive advantage in many areas (cost, risk, employee retention, customer satisfaction/ market share). Can you afford to wait?

Bottom line:

In most cases, being greener means doing things more efficiently. Less waste, less energy & fuel used, protected or increased client business – they all improve your bottom line.

Risk Management:

These days, insurance companies regularly rate your environmental exposure (disruption of services, disasters, access to resources etc.); in addition, supply chains can be disrupted by increasingly volatile weather and pandemics. Be prepared!

Consumers:

The consumers/ end users are better educated and well connected; they want greener products, but not necessarily pay more; green washing is detected and punished swiftly.

Customers:

Your customers (e.g. retailers) are demanding to know your carbon footprint and want to see action on your end to become more sustainable; soon inaction might lead to being delisted!

Government:

In many countries governments have implemented stronger rules and regulations; although the US is still behind the curve - don’t wait until you are forced to react.

Sustainability

Green Teams:

How do you get started to embark on the journey towards sustainability? Who should be in a green team and how do we set it up so it can function properly? How do we motivate your employees with some quick wins? How do you establish a baseline? Which metrics should we use to manage our green business? Green Wolf can help you in all of these areas. While the official green team leader should be one of your staff, Green Wolf will provide guidance and structure, workshops and training. It is fantastic to see your team get all excited about going green!

Education:

In many cases, it makes sense to weave educational sessions into the Green Team project. In easy to learn segments, Green Wolf presents to your team everything from sustainability basics (what is an offset?) to regulations, to success stories and green supply chain basics. The main goal is to get a discussion going and to use the new found knowledge for direct application in your own business. This ensures Green Team motivation and success stories the management can talk about!
